Brooks Ariel 20 Tennis Shoe

To properly kick off our best tennis shoes for flat feet review list, let’s take a look at an extremely high-quality shoe that costs quite a bit but that is also one of the absolute best shoes that those of you suffering from flat feet can get right now.

The reason why this shoe can get away with costing so much is because of just how good the shoe is. It has all the things that you want your shoe to have if you are looking for something to help with flat feet.

It is both very supportive, which helps to prevent muscle pain, and the shoe is also fairly light on your feet, which also goes a long way towards helping with any flat feet related issues.

In particular, we want to really draw your attention to just how well-made these shoes are. Obviously this can vary depending on your own experiences, but we find that the big issue with a lot of athletic shoes is that they wear out just so quickly.

That doesn’t end up being the case with the Brooks Ariel 20 Tennis Shoe because they are well-made enough that they can last for a very long time, even with near constant use.

As we hinted at in the beginning of this review, this is a very pricey tennis shoe. Athletic shoes can vary quite a lot in price, and the Brooks Ariel 20 Tennis Shoe is definitely on the higher end of the price spectrum. You really have to be dedicated to playing tennis to want to spend close to $150 on a pair of athletic shoes.

On the other hand, they are very comfortable shoes that should last for a long time, so you shouldn’t have to replace them for a while at the very least, which helps to lower the impact of the price.

Pros
  • Soft, comfortable tennis shoe.
  • Designed to be supportive.
  • Helps with foot pain and muscle issues.
  • Can let your feet breathe.
Cons
  • A very pricey tennis shoe.

The Best Tennis Shoes For Flat Feet: New Balance FuelCore Nergize Lifestyle Shoe

The next shoe that we want to review is the New Balance FuelCore Nergize Lifestyle Shoe.

Some of you may have been disappointed that we haven’t featured any big name brands so far on our review list. With this next product review, we aim to change that up a bit by reviewing a shoe from a company that at least some of you may have heard of before, which is New Balance.

While New Balance isn’t quite on par with shoe brands like Nike or adidas, they still make good athletic shoes, and they have the benefit of being a bit more affordable than really famous brands.

One of the biggest reasons why we would recommend the New Balance FuelCore Nergize Lifestyle Shoe to anyone who wants to play tennis with foot related issues is because of the soles that these shoes are equipped with.

New Balance uses unique soles that are designed to really absorb impact and cushion the feet. This does wonders for preventing long-term muscle pain in the feet. Add in that this is an extremely soft shoe, and you will be in comfort heaven if you go with this shoe.

As you might have noticed, this doesn’t have the word “tennis” in it. That is because this is technically not a tennis shoe, instead, it is a general athletic shoe. While some of your reading this may prefer to have a dedicated tennis shoe, the reality is that any athletic shoe will do, and this athletic shoe does a great job of supporting your feet while playing tennis.

It also adds to the versatility of the shoe as you can use it for other sports or for just general walking around.

Here is the thing that we want to caution you about when it comes to this New Balance shoe. We said before that this is a very soft shoe, and while that can be quite a good thing, it does have some potential downsides depending on what your specific preferences are.

While some of you will no doubt love the softness of this shoe, we can also imagine quite a few of disliking how soft it is and wanting something with a bit more “structure.” It all comes down to what you prefer the most in your athletic shoe.

Pros
  • Uses a unique, cushioning sole.
  • Shoes don’t weigh much of anything.
  • Soft and breathable, while still being good for sports.
Cons
  • Shoe could be too soft for some.

ASICS Gel-Venture 7 Shoe

One of the biggest and most important things to look for when it comes to buying tennis shoes in general, but especially when you have flat feet, is good support in the sole area. The soles of your feet are important because they are the main impact absorption site on your foot.

Whenever you jump (say like you would during a serve) the soles of your feet are where all of the impact goes. So, having a lot of impact absorption in that area can be extremely helpful. When it comes to sole protection, there are few shoes out there that are better than the ASICS Gel-Venture 7 Shoe.

If you are curious about why this shoe has such good sole protection, the answer is actually in the name. All of the shoes from ASICS are equipped with a high-quality gel insert that does wonders to make the shoe more absorptive. You will definitely find that this shoe helps to prevent things like muscle soreness, foot injuries, and the other issues that can occur whenever you exercise with flat feet.

Our main issue with the ASICS Gel-Venture 7 Shoe is the fact that the toe box is quite compact, especially when compared to some of the other shoe from this brand. If you look at say the Gel-Venture 6 or even 5, you would notice that they give your toes a lot more room to move around in.

Why this change occurred we don’t know, but it can be a bit annoying if you really need a shoe that gives you a lot of toe room. Thankfully, the issue does end up being mitigated somewhat because as you use the shoe more, you break it in and the discomfort around the toes gets lessened by quite a bit.

Pros
  • Equipped with a really high-quality gel insert.
  • Can prevent foot injuries and pain.
  • Overall a very good tennis shoe.
Cons
  • Toe box needs some improvement.

adidas Edge Lux 4 Running Shoe

It just wouldn’t be an athletic shoe list without at least one entry from a big named brand like Nike or adidas, so let’s remedy that with this next tennis shoe review.

Obviously, we have quite a large selection to pick from in this regard, but the main shoe that we decided to focus on is the adidas Edge Lux 4 Running Shoe. As you would guess based on the brand name alone, this is an extremely high-quality shoe. It is comfortable, breathable, and supportive. There isn’t much more that you could want in a shoe.

One issue with this shoe (really the only major issue that we think is worth mentioning) is its price. On its own, the price of this shoe (which is about $70 or so) isn’t that bad. However, it becomes worse when you look at the quality of the shoe.

As is befitting a brand like adidas, the Edge Lux 4 Running Shoe is a very good shoe for tennis, or any other sport for that matter. At the same time, the quality probably doesn’t justify the price of this shoe.

Based on the quality of the shoe and what it offers, it should probably cost a bit less, probably in the $50 to $60 range instead. Sadly, adidas shoes tend to be a bit overpriced for the same reason that Nike shoes are, the brand is very well-known and so can charge a bit more because of it.

Pros
  • Worthy of the adidas name.
  • Breathable and comfortable.
  • Provides adequate support.
Cons
  • Probably a bit overpriced.

JOOMRA Lightweight 3D Knit Shoe

Look, we want to be frank and say that tennis shoes, especially good ones that are meant to help with flat feet, are going to be on the more expensive side of things.

However, one can sometimes find the occasional shoe option that is both cheap and also capable of providing the sort of performance and comfort that you need out of a tennis shoe.

We found one such example and so we absolutely had to make sure to review it on our best tennis shoe for flat feet list. The JOOMRA Lightweight 3D Knit Shoe is the perfect option for those who want to try and save some money, while still indulging in their love of tennis.

The major selling point of this shoe, at least in our view, has got to be its price point so let’s start off with that. The price can vary a bit depending on things like availability, local taxes, and more. However, we can’t imagine anyone paying more than $35 for this shoe on average.

In many cases you could end up paying lower, and we doubt anyone will ever have to go over $40 for the shoe. If you have been paying close attention to how much the shoes on our review list cost, then you will see why the affordability of this shoe is so important.

Now, we don’t want to scare you into thinking that this isn’t a good shoe just because it is cheap. In spite of the low price, this is actually quite a good shoe overall. It is light, as you might have been able to guess based off the name, and it is also quite breathable, which is a crucial aspect for any athletic shoe.

Obviously, whenever you go for a product that has a lower than average price tag you have to accept that some sacrifices are made. Barring a special discount, it is extremely rare to find cheaper products that don’t make at least some concessions to get their price lower. So, what exactly does the JOOMRA Lightweight 3D Knit Shoe in order to be as affordable as it is? Well, the main concern here is longevity.

As we stated early on in the review list, one of the issues with athletic shoes in general is that they tend not to last all that long. Well, this is a cheaper shoe, and we have concerns that it probably won’t last longer than a year, especially if you happen to be quite a frequent tennis player.

Pros
  • Designed to be a breathable tennis shoe.
  • One of the cheapest shoes on our list.
  • Still quite supportive and comfortable, despite price.
  • Extremely light shoe.
Cons
  • Probably not designed to last for long, especially with heavy use.

Best Tennis Shoes For Flat Feet: The Buying Guide

Best Tennis Shoes For Flat Feet

Why Our List Only Features Women’s Shoes

While we ideally would have included this note at the beginning of our list, we didn’t want to bog down the article with an overly long intro.

We just wanted to quickly note why we focused on women’s shoes only. There are two reasons for this. First off, women are more likely to suffer from serious flat feet (meaning that they will actually experience symptoms like pain).

Secondly, more women tend to play tennis as a hobby, so it just made sense. If you are a man looking for shoes to support your flat feet while playing tennis, don’t worry as there are options out there for you. In fact, many of the shoes that we reviewed on this list actually have versions that are meant for men as well.

Why Tennis?

The next question that you may have is why we decided to focus exclusively on tennis, as opposed to general athletic shoes.

Well, once again, tennis (at least when played at the level covered by this article) is primarily played by women. Plus, tennis is a common sport for those who have some mobility issues (such as the ones caused by flat feet), but who also want to try and stay somewhat active.

Also, just to clear up any potential misconceptions that you may have, you should definitely invest in tennis shoes. While it may not seem like all that tough of a sport, it has a lot of running and jumping, both of which can put tremendous strain on your feet, especially if you have flat feet. So, you absolutely can’t skimp on your tennis shoes, even for casual play.

How Do I Know If Shoes Are Good?

Naturally, your main question for us is likely to be how you can figure out whether a certain pair of tennis shoes are good for your flat feet or not. How would you go about determining that? Well, the good news is that we are going to be answering that in this buying guide.

As we see it, the best way to determine if a specific tennis shoe is going to be good for your feet or not is to look at what sort of support it offers, especially around your heel and along the soles of your feet.

Why exactly? Well, this is something that we discussed a lot on our best tennis shoe for flat feet review list. The main issue with flat feet is that they don’t absorb the impact created by tennis playing as well as regular feet.

As a result, you experience things like muscle pain a lot easier. So, the way to solve this is to get a pair of shoes that add extra shock absorption in the heel area and along the soles. These are the areas that receive the most impact when you do something like run or jump, so you need to make sure that they are protected.
